About Me

 

As a Holistic Health Coach and founder of “Stop Dieting. Start Living,” I am deeply passionate about inspiring women to dump sugar and eat real food. One client described my nutrition program as “life changing” while another declared me to be “more health cheerleader than health coach.” My tips have been featured on MindBodyGreen.com, CW33, The Broadcast, and FOX 4 News. I am the Nutrition Advisor for Urban Acres & Cancer Support Community North Texas. When I am not speaking about nutrition or leading Juicing & Smoothie workshops, you can find me traveling around the world with my husband.

A Special Note About My Mom…

I have a very long list of things that I am thankful for in my life. It might surprise you to know that cancer is at the top of that list. If my mom hadn’t been diagnosed with cancer six years ago, my life would be completely different.

 

Before my mom was diagnosed with cancer, it wouldn’t be uncommon to find me eating an entire bag of candy corn in one sitting. Or pouring “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” spray on my wheat tortillas along with several packets of Splenda. I ate Lean Cuisines for dinner. I exercised regularly and was not overweight so I really thought I was healthy! But everything I put in my mouth was fake food with zero nutrients. No wonder my knees constantly hurt, I was moody, and I felt tired. My body was screaming for some real nutrition!

 

Fast forward to 2006. I got the phone call that changed my life – my mom had cancer. I became her primary care giver. That meant taking her to chemo, doctor’s appointments and making her lunch & dinner when she wasn’t able to. My mom started juicing right away. She adopted a raw food diet, which is a vegan diet where none of the food you eat is cooked above 110 degrees so that the living enzymes in the food remain intact.

 

I started researching and reading as many books as possible. What I discovered was there were a lot of people with cancer who were beating it with diet and nutrition. That gave me hope that my mom could beat cancer, despite reading the gloomy statistics on the Internet that ovarian cancer patients usually don’t live more than 2 years. The more I read, the more hope filled my heart.

 

I truly believe that because my mom changed her diet, she got five really good quality years despite a super scary diagnosis. I have learned so much and become so passionate about nutrition that I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and I am now a certified Holistic Health Coach.

I received my training as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program.

 

During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

 

My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.

 

I also received my Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Christian University, with an emphasis in International Marketing.
